back to basics: Mila Kunis in Friends With Benefits

Chad and I have had the luxury of seeing lots of movies lately, an activity I really missed when I was working way too many hours per week. Last week, we ventured out for Friends With Benefits, a (slightly) new take on the romantic comedy starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake.

I really enjoyed the movie (which turned out to be perfect for a date night), especially the styling of Mila's character Jamie.

As a head hunter, Jamie brought professional style to the next level with a unique mix of basics. She was often seen in a black or neutral top with a little something extra added to the outfit. I love her mixture of neutral shoes, a nice trick that I often try to add some length to my legs.

One of my favorite pieces was the long lightning bolt pendant she wore in several scenes, a nice sentiment that alluded to Justin's character, Dylan.

I'm lucky that my office has a fairly casual dress policy, but I like to keep my outfits somewhat professional for work. Dressing up for work is one of the hardest parts of my day. As I'm waking up early and getting ready, I honestly don't always feel like ironing my clothes, pulling an outfit together with accessories or taking the time to do something more with my hair. After seeing Friends With Benefits, I felt more inspired to follow in Jamie's footsteps: easy, professional looks that make "business casual" more interesting.

How do you dress for work? I would love to hear some tips on how I can look sharp without all the work.

Some inspiration...
